The adult ministry at Swartz First Baptist seeks to provide discipleship and relationships no matter where a person is in their walk with Christ.
Adults will face many challenges, joys, and changes in their life. Establishing a career, marriage (or singleness), the birth of children, aging parents, purchase of houses, empty nest, declining health, death of loved ones are all experiences that an adult will walk through.
We believe that becoming a disciple of Christ is best done within the context of relationships. These relationships give us the chance to be challenged, encouraged and ministered to by others (and we get to challenge, encourage and minister to others as well).
Every Sunday morning groups of adults meet to connect with God’s Word and each other. These groups are life stage graded which brings together people with a lot in common. We have groups for the youngest of adults through the most senior of adults. Most of these classes are co-ed classes so that couples can attend together.
Growth Groups usually meet with the purpose of concentrating on a particular topic or spiritual issue. Because they are more interest based a group may contain a wide age span. Topics such as prayer, parenting, marriage are some examples. These groups usually meet for a set period of time (like a six week study) at a time or day other than Sunday morning.
Life on Life Groups
The ministry of Jesus shows us how He used large groups (the multitudes) and small groups (the apostles). But there is also the intimate inner circle of His ministry where he disciples three men (Peter, James & John). We call those groups Life on Life. These groups meet at any time that is convenient for the members.
Involvement in group life at Swartz gives you the opportunity to make friends and learn from the Word of God in community.
